This journal article highlights the value of SPECTRALIS OCT volume scans in identifying biomarkers of age-related macular degeneration. The retrospective analysis found several baseline features associated with a significantly greater risk for the development of complete retinal pigment epithelium and outer retinal atrophy at 2 years. The authors conclude that these biomarkers may be useful for prognostication, risk stratification, and selection of patients for future early intervention clinical trials
